Cogeco Driver Driving Carelessly in Hamilton on March 5th 2014
On approximately 12 noon in Hamilton Ontario , on March 5th 2014 I was travelling Southbound on James St North at Robert St. In my Vehicle .
When I approached the intersection of James St N , and Robert St there is a walkway for pedestrians , an older gentleman was attempting to cross the sidewalk from the Westbound side to Eastbound side of James St N via a crosswalk !
I saw that the Gentleman standing on the sidewalk acknowledged my stopping , he proceeded into the intersection , in front of my vehicle , a Silver Ford Taurus ! He then hesitated.
At this time I noticed a white vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed proceeding North on James St N well before Robert St !
As the van approached the Intersection , this vehicle was identified as a Cogeco Technical Truck ! White Service
I watched in horror while this Cogeco Van , proceeded to race past the intersection with the elderly gentleman in the middle of the intersection this driver was not stopping ,, to allow pedestrian the right of way !
I attempted to get the license plate , but the Cogeco Van Driver continued at a highspeed past myself on James St N , he applied his brakes briefly but continued on James St N !
I feel this Driver was both reckless and careless and was not attempting to make any effort to stop for the pedestrian ! This near fatal accident had me completely shaken for a day !
This situation was completely avoidable. I would like to address this situation at the highest level !!
This was aggressive driving and reckless driving and completely unnecessary !
Driving a Company Vehicle in a Reckless Manner results in accidents ! Children and elderly people cross at this walkway frquently !
Please give way to Pedestrians at all times !
